KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch addresses members of the Works Committee during a sensitisation.

KMTC Sensitises Works Committees on CBA Implementation and Job Evaluation

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), from July 9 to 10, 2026, has convened members of Campus Works Committees at the Nakuru Campus for a sensitisation workshop on the implementation of the 2022–2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and the upcoming job evaluation exercise.

The workshop follows a high-level consultative meeting held on July 6, 2026, between KMTC, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA), where stakeholders agreed on the way forward towards the full implementation of the CBA.

Addressing the participants, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch reaffirmed the College's commitment to improving staff welfare, noting that the proposed salary review and job evaluation are intended to ensure fair remuneration while strengthening the institution's long-term sustainability.

“We recognise our staff as the College's most valuable resource. While there has been no salary increment since 2017, we remain committed to pursuing a fair outcome through constructive engagement with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission,” he said.

Dr. Oluoch disclosed that the College had proposed a three per cent annual salary increment for two financial years and expressed optimism that the job evaluation exercise, scheduled to commence on July 13, 2026, would provide a basis for a comprehensive salary review benefiting all staff. He further announced the establishment of a technical working group comprising Management and Union representatives to keep staff informed on the progress of the negotiations.

Deputy Director, Finance, Planning and Administration Ms. Lucy Chebungei thanked the Union and Campus Works Committees for their patience and continued support throughout the negotiation process. She urged participants to continue disseminating accurate information to staff, uphold discipline across campuses and remain committed to prudent utilisation of College resources.

Finance Manager Mr. Elijah Mititi acknowledged staff expectations for improved remuneration, noting that while the College fully supports staff welfare, limited resources require a balanced approach that safeguards the institution's sustainability. He encouraged continued collaboration between Management and staff representatives to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Planning Manager Dr. Mutinda Mutuku challenged participants to champion prudent resource management across campuses, observing that responsible stewardship of College resources remains critical to enhancing productivity, institutional growth and staff welfare.

The workshop provided Campus Works Committees with an opportunity to understand better the ongoing CBA implementation process and their role in supporting communication, collaboration, and harmonious labour relations across the College.
