KMTC Participates in Health Integration Summit to Strengthen HIV Response
The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) participated in the Health Integration Summit 2026, held in Mombasa, where stakeholders underscored the need for a coordinated and integrated approach to strengthening the national HIV response.
The five-day summit, which commenced on March 15, 2026, at the PrideInn Convention Centre, brought together delegates from all 47 counties, as well as participants from Uganda and partner organisations.
The summit was officially opened by the Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, who called for enhanced collaboration between national and county governments to support effective implementation of health policies.
Addressing the delegates, Dr. Amoth emphasised the need to integrate health services and acknowledged progress made in scaling up HIV programmes across the country.
“The government remained committed to strengthening primary health care, digitising health services for efficiency, and sustaining political will to end HIV, reduce child mortality, and improve maternal health,” he said.
He further recognised the contribution of private and faith-based healthcare providers, noting that they accounted for a significant share of health service delivery, and called for continued partnerships to strengthen the health system.
Representing the CEO, Dr. Kelly Oluoch, the Head of Health Services at the College, Dr. Kennedy Rateng, served as a panellist at the summit, contributing to discussions on advancing a comprehensive and holistic HIV response under the theme “Health Without Barriers for a Holistic HIV Response.”
The summit provided a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, strengthen collaboration, and explore integrated approaches to improving health outcomes across Kenya and the region.
