KMTC, Migori County Deepen Partnership to Strengthen Healthcare Services

KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch today hosted a delegation from the County Government of Migori, led by Chief Officer for Medical Services Mr. Samuel Atula and Director of Liaison and Intergovernmental Relations Mr. Dennis Wasike, to explore ways of deepening collaboration around KMTC’s Migori, Kuria and Awendo campuses.

Both institutions agreed to prioritise mental health, maternal and child health, and community emergency care training for boda boda riders, building on a programme that has already trained more than 10,000 riders. They also discussed lecturer secondment, the expansion of clinical placement sites across the county’s health facilities, and joint community health initiatives.

Dr. Oluoch highlighted the need to strengthen infrastructure and learning environments across KMTC’s campuses in Migori County, including securing land documentation, enhancing facilities and staffing, expanding space as well as amenities to support future programme growth.

To guide this work, KMTC and the County Government agreed to finalise and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on training, research, community service and health systems strengthening.

Dr. Oluoch was accompanied by Resource Mobilisation Manager Dr. Job Nyakado, Corporation Secretary Ms. Caroline Muchina, Communications Manager Marcellah Eucabeth and Manager, Administration, Mr. Collins Agutu.
