KMTC Begins Preparations for 2026 National Sports Competition
Preparations for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) 2026 National Sports Competition are underway following a planning meeting being held at the Mombasa Campus.
The meeting has brought together members of the College Sports Committee and other key stakeholders to deliberate on logistics, coordination, and measures to ensure the successful delivery of this year’s annual event.
The National Sports Competition remains one of the College’s major co-curricular activities, bringing together students from campuses across the country in a platform that promotes talent development, teamwork, discipline, and institutional unity.
Speaking during the meeting on Monday, May 11, 2026, Deputy Registrar, Student Affairs, Ms. Grace Mwangi, emphasised the important role sports play in supporting student wellness and holistic development.
“Sports are not separate from learning; they are part of building balanced, resilient, and disciplined health professionals. Beyond competition, these activities strengthen mental wellness, teamwork, leadership, and social connection among our students and staff,” she said.
She further called upon campuses to begin early preparations and intensify training ahead of the competition. “A successful competition begins with proper preparation. We encourage campuses to actively support their teams and create an environment where students can fully participate and showcase their talents,” she added.
The College continues to prioritise co-curricular engagement as part of its commitment to nurturing well-rounded healthcare professionals who can excel both academically and socially. Through sports and other student activities, KMTC seeks to create supportive learning environments that contribute to students’ physical and mental well-being.
The Committee is expected to finalise key operational plans for the event, with official dates and the host venue to be communicated in due course.
