Faculty of Diagnostic Sciences

The Faculty of Diagnostic Sciences trains professionals who support disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention through the use of advanced laboratory and imaging technologies. The faculty emphasizes both technical competence and ethical practice to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.

  1. Medical Laboratory Technology: Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) are trained to process and analyze specimens, providing crucial evidence for disease diagnosis, treatment decisions, and prevention strategies. They guide specimen collection, packaging, and transportation, and generate accurate data that supports research, policy development, and quality assurance. MLTs also manage laboratory operations, oversee blood and tissue services for transfusion and transplantation, and offer consultancy across diagnostic, research, industrial, educational, and medico-legal fields.
  2. Radiography and Imaging Technology: Radiography and Imaging Technologists are equipped to perform diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures using various tools, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and other advanced imaging equipment. Their work provides essential images and data that enable doctors and other healthcare providers to accurately diagnose, monitor, and manage medical conditions. These professionals make significant contributions to patient care within hospitals, clinics, and specialized imaging centers.
