On May 6, 2025, KMTC Narok Campus was officially commissioned in a colorful ceremony graced by His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto.

The state-of-the-art Campus, constructed by the County Government of Narok at a cost of Kshs. 483 million, marked a significant milestone in the provision of medical education and training in the country.

The facility includes modern tuition blocks, hostels, and specialized laboratories that will enhance learning and practical skills among students.

Speaking during the event, President Ruto commended KMTC and the County for their partnership in expanding access to quality health training.

“Matters training and education are key to our country's development, especially in the health sector. We will continue to invest in institutions like KMTC to build the human capital needed to deliver health services across the country,” he said.

To support this, the President announced that the government will allocate resources in the upcoming budget to hire additional lecturers, ensuring students are taught by highly qualified professionals.

Recognizing the importance of a conducive learning environment, the President pledged to engage the Ministry of Housing to construct additional hostels for students through the Housing Fund, guaranteeing decent and hygienic living conditions during training.

In line with promoting practical learning, the Head of State committed to purchasing a bus for the Campus to support student travel to clinical placement sites.

He further directed the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni to collaborate with the military in fast-tracking the completion of the Narok County Referral Hospital to provide skilled clinical placement sites for students.

Emphasizing the government's commitment to health equity, President Ruto lauded the roll-out of the Social Health Authority (SHA), which aims to ensure all Kenyans receive equal treatment regardless of their background.

“Health is a right, not a privilege. Every Kenyan deserves access to the highest attainable standard of healthcare,” he stated.

The President also called on the Ministry of Education to sign a framework agreement with the Council of Governors to facilitate access to bursaries for KMTC students through County Governments.

The president was received by the KMTC Board Chairperson Mr. Joseph K. Cheruiyot and CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch.

Also present at the event were Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Woman Representative Rebecca Tonkei, Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo, and other dignitaries from across the country.
