MTC Murang'a started in 1950's during the colonial times. It started with the training of dressers.In 1960's it started training enrolled midwives, followed by enrolled nurses.The training of enrolled nurses stopped in 1978 giving way to Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing.This continued up to 2005 March when the course was replaced by Diploma in Registered Nursing.
In the year 2004 September, KMTC Murang'a started training Health Records and Information Technology certificate course. In 2006 May, Health Records and Technology in-service course was started.
In 2005 September, the first class of Clinical Medicine was started.
The college is situated in Murang'a Town approximately 1 km from the town center, next to the District Hospital. It is in Murang'a District, Central Province about 90km north of Nairobi.
MTC Murang'a offers the following courses:

- In-service Diploma in HRI
- Certificate course in HRI
- Diploma in Nursing – Distance Learning

The collage has one Hostel and a dinning hall.
The college has been actively involved in sports. We are in Zone 4. Due to limited space in our compound we use the town stadium plus the Murang'a College of Technology stadium.
The collage has a student's council which provides a link between administration, staff and students.
