Brief History
MTC Garissa was established in 1980 as a constituent college of KMTC. The college started as a training facility for certificate courses in nursing.


Location
The only MTC in Kenya's North Eastern Province, MTC Garissa is situated off Sankuri Road within Garissa Municipal Council, Garissa District.

Courses Offered
MTC Garissa offers the following courses:
  • Certificate in Nursing (pre-service)
  • Upgrading Diploma in Nursing (DL)
  • In-Service Diploma in Nursing


Housing and Dining
MTC Garissa has 2 classrooms, computer lab, skillslab, library, 2 hostels and office.

We have one kitchen and 1 dining hall.

The college participates in the following games:
  • Football both male and female
  • Volleyball both male and female
  • Handball – female
  • Netball
  • Basketball
  • Darts
  • Table Tennis
  • Badminton



Student Representative Council
MTC Garissa has a structured and well represented Student's Council.
The council is composed of Chairman, Assistant Chairman, treasurer and secretary as well as students' representatives for sports, hostels, dining and environment.

Proximity to Training Hospital
MTC Garissa uses Garissa Provincia General Hospital for most of its clinical placement. We also use Mathare for psychiatry and Machakos District Hospital for Nursery experience.
