Based at Nairobi MTC, the department offers Diploma in Community Oral Health.Community Oral Health Workers (Coho) are based at district and provincial hospitals to give basic dental care to Kenyans. A link to the community and policy makers, Coho submit reports to the decision makers about what is happening at village levels. They are part of the primary health care team that enhances team approach in the overall delivery of health service to the community.

About Environmental Health Sciences
Started in 1947 at Jeans School, Kabete, the Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) department trains Public Health Officers (PHOs).Emphasizing a shift from curative health to preventive health care, the department trains professionals who function in a multidisciplinary setting in the communities. To maintain healthy populations in the country, PHOs emphasize environmental protection and management.
They carry out investigation, control and prevent environmental health problems and potential risks to humanity.

The department of Health Education and Promotion plays a major role in the promotion of health and prevention of diseases. It also contributes towards the early and effective treatment of diseases so as to minimize suffering and disability. In addition, it contributes greatly to the reduction of workload of health care providers as well as reducing cost in providing curative services thus enhancing quality of Health care.

Medical engineering is a profession that deals in the installation, service and repair of medical equipment and hospital systems in hospitals and medical institutions. It incorporates three main fields: mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering and electronics.
Brief history
In 1978, the Kenya Government, in collaboration with Austrian government, started an artisan-training programme at Loitokitok sub district Hospital on a pilot basis, earnestly starting Medical Engineering training in Kenya.
In 1987, Loitokitok School was upgraded to train technicians at certificate level. In the same year, other schools were established to train technicians at both certificate and diploma level. The colleges included Loitokitok, Eldoret, Meru and Kilifi. Training at diploma level then took place at Mombasa Polytechnic only.
