Ophthalmic Nursing
 
Introduction
This programme provides care to persons with disorders of the eyes including blindness or visual impairment. Its functions range from patient teaching to assistance in surgery. It is knowledgeable about the effect of ophthalmic disorders on the body as well as the emotions of patients who often must adapt to blindness or visual impairment.

Minimum Entry Requirements
For admission, one must meet the following minimum admission requirements:
  • Diploma in Nursing (KRN/KRCHN)
  • Diploma in Midwifery (KRN/KRM), FP, and KEPI
  • Two years working experience


Scope
This higher diploma is available in Nairobi MTC only


Intake Period
  • September intake
  • March intake
Applications are posted in December and January


Course Duration
This is a fulltime programme that takes 1 Year
