Environmental Health Science trains Public Health Officers who function in a multidisciplinary setting in the community and emphasize a shift from Curative Health to Preventive Health Care.
The philosophy in Environmental Health is to provide necessary training of high competency to trainees based on technical skills, professional attitudes and relevant knowledge.
Post- basic diploma
Eligible to serving PHOs to enable them specialize and effectively function in environment, the following full time post-basic diploma courses are offered at KMTC, Nairobi.
• Food Science and Inspection
• Occupational Health and Safety
• Solid Waste management
The following courses, however, are eligible to health professionals from other disciplines:
• Epidemiology
• Health Education and Promotion
• Community Health and Development
Program duration
The program lasts one academic year on full time basis.
