Formal training of Orthopaedic Technologists started in 1972 with the first group of four students qualifying in 1975. Since then the number in a class has increased to about 20 per class.
An Orthopaedic Technologist will be able to rehabilitate physically disabled people through provision of appliances (orthoses and prostheses) which support weak, deformed or lost parts of the body.
The programme lasts three (3) years.
Organization of the programme
Each academic year has 2 semesters which are followed by clinical orientations.
The course is offered at the Kenya Medical Training College, Nairobi.
