Dental Technology
 
Introduction
The programme is designed to produce high level skilled Dental Technologists who are able to design, fabricate and fit
dental restorations, prostheses and appliances including crowns and bridges. It also seeks to enlarge understanding of new and developing areas of dental technology.




Minimum Entry Requirements
KCSE mean grade C with C in English/Kiswahili and Physics/Chemistry or Physical Science and C-(minus)
in any other science subject (not Home Science or Agriculture), or their equivalent for International students.


Duration
The course takes three (3) years.


Campus
The course in offered at KMTC Nairobi.

The programme study covers the following areas:-

  • Crown and Bridge
  • Complete and Partial Prosthodontics
  • Cobalt Chrome
  • Orthodontic
  • Science and Dental material
  • Tooth Morphology
  • Oral Anatomy
  • Research Methodology
  • Introductory Management
  • Applied Science (physics/chemistry)
  • First Aid
  • STI HIV/AIDS



Clinical Placement
Before graduating, students MUST undergo a three (3) months mandatory clinical placement at public hospitals,
mission hospitals and/or private commercial dental laboratories.

The placement period gives students hands-on experience in fabricating and fitting appliances, restorations and prostheses for patients and to learn working as a dental heath team.
