This a part of a primary health care that enhances team approach in an overall delivery of health service and basic dental care to the community.
It is a diploma course that brings up Oral health professionals who provide both preventive and curative services at community levels.
Enrolling in this program ensures;
• Increase coverage to promotive and preventive to a majority of the population
• Prevent any increase in dental diseases
Course duration
This is a three year program leading to a diploma in Community Oral health
Minimum entry requirements
An average grade of (C-plain) in English or Biology/ Biological Sciences (C-plain)
C-minus) in Chemistry, Physics/ Physical sciences, mathematics or general sciences.
Specific Objectives
This is to enable oral health officers to:
• Do a community diagnosis for oral health problems in their areas of jurisdiction.
• Develop and carry out health education to the community.
• Co-ordinate with the dentist in charge in taking care of the community's oral health needs.
• Participate in relevant health care programs in the area they are working.
• Provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative dental care.
